The Sporting KC Academy and West Virginia Connection - Academy Players in College

It may seem a little surprising given its location, but when it comes to which college has the most Sporting KC academy players playing for the school, it is West Virginia. The school, currently ranked 17th in the college ranks fields five Sporting KC academy players, all of whom are regular contributors to the team that is currently 6-2-1 on the season. Over the weekend a good article took a look at the relationship, and how exactly it came to be.

Joe Amico (Jacksonville) - D - Sr - Started Jacksonville's 1-0 loss to USC Upstate

Matt Bernard (Cal Baptist) - MF - RJr - Came on as a substitute in both Cal Baptist's 2-1 loss to Azusa Pacific and their 1-0 loss to Concordia.

Paul Dean (Rockhurst University) - D - Sr - Did not play in either of Rockhurst's games.

Seo-In Kim (UCSB) - MF - Sr - Did not play in either of UCSB's games.

Adam Lightner (Northern Illinois University) - D - Sr - Started Northern Illinois' 2-0 loss to IUPUI.

Clay Stewart - (University of Missouri Kansas City) - MF/D - Sr - Did not play in either of UMKC's games.

Wes White (Coastal Carolina) - F - RJr - Came on as a substitute in both Coastal Carolina's 2-0 win over College of Charleston and their 3-1 win over Old Dominion, he had two assists in the second game.

Drew Wilson (Fort Hays State University) - D - Sr - Started both Fort Hays' 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist and their 4-1 win over Northeastern State, recording an assist in the second game.

Mason Leonard (Drake) - D - Jr - Came on as a substitute in Drake's 2-1 loss to Western Michigan, did not play in their 2-1 loss to SIU-Edwardsville.

Blake Levine (Baker) - F - Jr - Started and had a goal in Baker's 3-0 win over MidAmerica. Started and had an assist in Baker's 1-1 draw with William Penn.

Matthew Lewis (Fordham) - D - Jr - Started Fordham's 0-0 draw with George Washington.

Andy Lopez (North Carolina) - MF - RSo - Did not play in UNC's 0-0 draw with Syracuse.

Noah Mudd (Trevecca) - D - Jr - Started Trevecca's 3-2 win over Shorter and their 4-1 win over Kentucky Wesleyan.
