Another long time MLS player is hanging up their cleats at the end of the season, former Kansas City Wizards' midfielder, Jack Jewsbury announced this past week that this year would be his final year in MLS. Jewsbury announced that he would retire at the end of the season at Portland's Stand Together Banquet on Sunday, it will bring to an end a career that has seen the 35 year old play 14 seasons in MLS, his first eight were in Kansas City where he's on the club's top 10 list in terms of starts, appearances, and minutes played. He's one of only nine players who have played in 200 games across all competitions for the club. In 2011 when he seemed to be losing his minutes on the field as KC started to go another direction he was traded to the Portland Timbers where he was the club's first captain when they joined MLS. He's since gone on to be a main part of their team and for his career is in MLS' all time top 10 in terms of appearances (348) and 29th all time in minutes played (25,363 up to this point. Congrats to Jewsbury on a fantastic career.
