The summer transfer window for MLS teams closes tomorrow evening, so far this window, Kansas City have made a couple of moves, signing Ever Alvarado and Emmanuel Appiah while trading Amadou Dia for Cameron Porter. As a whole though KC has made a move that many people think they need to make to compete for a trophy this season. A few days ago though Kansas City became the latest club in MLS to be linked with San Lorenzo midfielder, Sebastian Blanco. Blanco has previously been linked with the Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC but now is linked with a move to KC.
Today a radio station in Argentina is reporting that Kansas City is going to make an offer for the Argentine player in the coming days. If this is a move for this summer and not this winter, Kansas City is going to have to get the deal done quickly with the window closing tomorrow.
Blanco would fill a pair of needs that Kansas City had said they were looking to fill in the summer window, attacking midfielder and winger. While Blanco appears to primarily be an attacking midfielder, he can also play on the wing, which would be a big boost to a position that has suffered from lack of form, injuries, and international absences to cause a lot of instability in that position. If the rumors are true and Kansas City can get Blanco integrated into Peter Vermes' system quickly he could be a big reinforcement for the club.
I'm still a little hesitant though based on the club's history with signing players, and preferring to sign players that are out of contract. Blanco is still under contract with San Lorenzo, and the club has apparently put a valuation of $3 million on him. If there is a deal in the works for this window the clock is ticking and there's not much time left to get it done.
