Rangers Remain Unbeaten

The Swope Park Rangers continued their unbeaten start to their inaugural USL season as they picked up a 1-1 draw with fellow expansion side, San Antonio FC in their home opener. The Rangers were able to grab an early lead off a corner as the ball bounced around in the box it eventually fell to Sporting KC loanee Daniel Salloi who fired the ball past Josh Ford and into the net to make it 1-0 to the Rangers. San Antonio though controlled much of the game though and kept the Rangers pinned back in their own end. Danny Garcia was a big part of the San Antonio attack. Jon Kempin in the Rangers net came up with a number of big saves to keep SPR in front. Unfortunately San Antonio finally broke through in the 42nd minute. Garcia was played through on goal by Carlos Alvarez. As Kempin came off his line Garcia knocked it over him and into the net tying the game at 1-1.

The second half continued much the same way as the first half did with SAFC controlling the play, in fact other than the goal by Salloi, the Rangers did not get another shot on goal all game. Kempin and the Rangers defense though continued to hold strong and was able to preserve the point for the Rangers. Swope Park is now off until the 23rd when they make their first trip to Oklahoma City to take on Jimmy Nielsen and the OKC Energy.
