Rangers Start Preseason

Kansas City's other men's professional soccer team started their work towards the 2016 season today out at the KC Chiefs practice facility in Kansas City. The Swope Park Rangers are getting ready for their first season in the USL after Sporting KC created the club instead of having an affiliate as they had in the prior three years of the MLS/USL partnership.

As the Rangers started preseason, the club currently has 13 players on their roster, including experienced USL veterans like Dane Kelly and Christian Duke, players with MLS experience like Tommy Meyer and Kris Tyrpak, internationals like Kevin Oliveira and Ualefi, as well as Sporting KC academy player Nansel Selbol.

Along with those 13 players, the Rangers have 10 players in camp as unsigned trialists. The most intriguing of those 10 players is probably Mouhamed Dabo, a 20 year old Senegalese midfielder who was last on the books with Inter Milan in Italy. There are also other players from the US minor leagues including Tomas Granitto from FC Edmonton, Jack Mathis from Saint Louis FC, and Reed McKenna from the OKC Energy. There is also another former SKC academy player, 20 year old forward Alberto Sanchez.

The club has also brought in seven SKC academy players into camp for preseason. Included in that group is US youth international Jaylin Lindsey. Lindsey has spent time with the US U15 team while also playing with KC's academy team. Also invited from the academy is Felipe Hernandez, the 17 year old from Nashville, Tennessee spent time in preseason last year with Sporting KC in Tucson.
