Sporting Kansas City's USL team, the Swope Park Rangers continues to make some impressive moves ahead of their first season in the USL in 2016. Today the club announced the signing of Kevin Oliveira from Benfica B. The 19 year old native of Cape Verde has been with the club since he was 14 he worked his way up through the club until going on loan to second division side SC Covilha. He's played in a number of U19 tournaments with Benfica's team and has even been in national team camp with the Cape Verde national team when they were in Portugal to play the Portuguese national team in a friendly.
He's the fourth international and 13th on the Rangers roster as they get ready to kick off their preseason. The average age of those 13 players is just 22.5 years old, a good mix of veterans and youth that should help to establish exactly what Sporting KC wants out of the team, developing players who can help the first team.
According to Thad with The Blue Testament, Oliveira is the center midfielder that Robb Heineman had mentioned in a tweet as a loan that became an acquisition.
