Sporting KC made one move today ahead of the start of the Desert Diamond Cup in Tucson, Arizona. The team announced today that they had loaned winger Bernardo Anor to NASL side Minnesota United for the entire 2016 season. Anor, who the club acquired form the Columbus Crew before the 2015 season for allocation money. Anor didn't have a good time in the 2015 season with KC though, as he played just 13 games, starting only four. He missed quite a bit of time for KC last year with an injury and wasn't much of an impact on the field when he was in for KC.
Loaning Anor out for the whole season allows Kansas City to open up his roster spot, giving KC an open roster spot at this point. It also opens up an international roster spot, putting KC down to five international spots, three open at this time for Sporting.
Anor is one of three players that are reportedly not in Tucson with Kansas City for the second phase of preseason. Sam McDowell with the KC Star is reporting that along with Anor, Marcel de Jong and Amobi Okugo are not in Tucson either. De Jong has reported been told he's not part of the team's plans and Okugo appeared just twice for Kansas City after Sporting acquired him from Orlando City last year. With his salary his departure wouldn't be a surprise either.
