US Soccer today announced roster changes ahead of their friendly against Brazil on Tuesday. One of the moves is some very good news for Sporting KC. US Soccer released Sporting captain and center back, Matt Besler to his club team. Besler is one of two players who will be leaving camp, along with goalkeeper, William Yarbrough, and returning to their club team.
Besler, Yarbrough, and Clint Dempsey (who was set to report to the team after his club's game against Toronto yesterday are replaced on the roster by Michael Bradley, Sean Johnson, and Jordan Morris.
This is good news for Kansas City ahead of Wednesday's game against Portland. Without Besler, and Erik Palmer-Brown, who is also away on international duty, KC only had one center back available to them, Kevin Ellis. KC looked set to have to move Jalil Anibaba or Amobi Okugo, both recently returning from injury, to the center back position for the game if Besler had been unavailable.
