Krisztian Nemeth will get another opportunity to represent his country as a member of the Hungarian national team. Today Sporting KC announced that Nemeth had been called up for Hungary's upcoming European Cup qualifiers. Hungary will host Group F leaders, Romania in Budapest on September 4th before traveling to take on second place Northern Ireland on the 7th. Hungary currently sit in third in Group F, two points behind second place Northern Ireland. The top two teams in each group automatically qualify for the tournament. The best third place team automatically qualifies while the other ones will play a playoff. Currently Hungary is the second best third place team.
There was no departure date announced for Nemeth, but he could miss up to two games for Kansas City. He could miss next weekend's game in Colorado against the Rapids on August 29th, depending on when he departs to join up with the national teams. Nemeth though will certainly miss Sporting's trip to Portland on September 9th, just two days after Hungary's qualifier in Northern Ireland. That will create more lineup issues for Peter Vermes at a time when he is going to need all hands available to him.
