Academy Graduates Busy as Division 1 Starts - Academy in College Update

NCAA Division 1 soccer really got going this past weekend with all NCAA Division 1 teams with a Sporting KC academy graduate in them starting play. There was a lot of involvement from the KC academy as well. From West Virginia, where all three SKC graduates Heath Honol, Joey Piatczyc, and Tucker Stephenson all picking up assists in their 6-0 win over San Francisco, Piatczyc set a school record with four in that game. Elsewhere, Andy Lopez and Zach Wright were both involved in UNC's 3-0 win over Santa Clara as both scored a goal, with Lopez picking up the assist on Wright's goal.

Class of 2012

Andrew Brown (Bradley University) - MF - Sr - Started both Bradley's 2-0 loss to Illinois-Chicago and their 1-0 win over Houston Baptist.

Eric DeJulio (Creighton University) - D - Sr - Started both games for #6 Creighton, including a 1-0 win over Michigan and a 4-0 win over Milwaukee.

Daniel Hare (Loyola University in Chicago) - D - Sr - Started in Loyola's 1-0 loss to #20 UC Irvine and their 2-1 loss to Cal State Northridge.

Andrew Lightner (Dayton) - D - RJr - Did not play in Dayton's 2-1 loss to Radford. Started in Dayton's 1-0 win over James Madison.

Andrew Miller (Baker University) - D - Sr - Started Baker's 1-0 OT win over Midland.

Nate Opperman (University of Evansville) - F - Sr - Started in Evansville's 5-2 loss to Milwaukee.

Derek Schrick (University of Missouri Kansas City) - MF - Sr - Did not play in UMKC's 2-1 loss to Omaha.

Shane Woods (Drury University) - F - Jr - First game 9/5

Paul Dean (Rockhurst University) - D - Jr - First game 9-8.

Seo-In Kim (UCSB) - MF - Jr - Came on as a substitute and had an assist in UCSB's 1-0 win over Stanford.

Adam Lightner (Northern Illinois University) - D - Jr - Did not play in Northern Illinois' 1-0 OT win over Green Bay.

Clay Stewart - (University of Missouri Kansas City) - MF/D - Jr - Did not play in UMKC's 2-1 loss to Omaha.

Joey Piatczyc (West Virginia) - MF - So - Started in West Virginia's 1-0 loss to Navy. Started and recorded 4 assists in West Virginia's 6-0 win over San Francisco.

Cole Stevenson (Denver) - F - So - Came on as a substitute, scoring a goal in Denver's 4-0 win over CSU Bakersfield.

Zach Wright (North Carolina) - F - So - Started both #5 UNC's 1-0 win over FIU and their 3-0 win over Santa Clara. Wright scored a goal in the win over Santa Clara.
