Sporting KC's issues with goalkeepers over the last two years or so has come up again for KC. Tomorrow, Sporting KC's first home grown signing,
Jon Kempin will not be in the 18 man roster for the game. Kempin is being held out of tomorrow's US Open Cup game against FC Dallas as a precautionary measure because of minor arm infection. He could apparently go if need be, but the team wants to keep him on.
In his place, KC has picked up goalkeeper Alex Riggs from St. Louis FC on loan. Riggs, a 27 year old Missouri State graduate is from the St. Louis area, but has yet to play in a game for St. Louis this year as Chicago Fire loanee, Alec Kann and Mark Pais have split time in net this year for the expansion side. He does have some MLS experience, being on the Columbus Crew roster in 2011, but not appearing in any league games. I'd expect he'll just be on the bench and Tim Melia will get another start in the US Open Cup.
