Last week we heard that five Sporting KC players had been named to their club's Gold Cup provisional squad ahead of this summer's competition. Today Honduras cut their 35 man roster to 23 for the start of the tournament on July 7th. One name absent from the roster that will make Sporting KC fans happy is Roger Espinoza, he and many other Honduran internationals were left off Honduras' roster, at least for the group stages. This means he'll be available for the fifth round of the US Open Cup on June 30th or July 1st as well as when Sporting KC travel to Vancouver on July 12th.
Espinoza though could be recalled after the group stage is done as CONCACAF allows teams to make six changes to their rosters after the group stage, before the knock out round. So it's possible that Espinoza could still miss the team's games against Montreal on the 18th and in Salt Lake on the 24th, plus a potential US Open Cup quarterfinal in between.
