For well over a year now we've been hearing rumors about teenage center back, Erik Palmer-Brown moving to Juventus in the Italian league. It's become a topic of discussion on a certain Italian writers page every three months or so, without anything new really ever being added to the conversation. With Palmer-Brown having turned 18 now though the restricts that had kept him from moving abroad when he was still a minor are gone and the length of his stay in KC is certainly something that can be questioned. Palmer-Brown himself even played a bit of a troll yesterday on "Jersey Friday" at Sporting KC practice wearing a personalized Juventus jersey in the team photo.
While Juventus has been the primary topic of rumors about Palmer-Brown, it appears another Italian club could be trying to come in and make a deal. Reports out of Italy are that Fiorentina is also after the young center back. Mentioned at the end of the article, Palmer-Brown is one of three Americans in MLS mentioned as potential targets of the Florence club along with Orlando's Amobi Okugo and Chicago's Michael Stephens.
The third of those three names mentioned though does give me a little pause in regards to this rumor, as Stephens only recently returned to MLS from an okay run with Norwegian club Stabaek. He doesn't have the profile of a player I'd see as a target of the Europa League semifinalists.
That said it doesn't surprise me that more clubs would be interested in Palmer-Brown, the article also mentions that Oriol Rosell's new club, Sporting Club of Portugal is also interested in trying to get him. Basically it means that we're likely in for a summer full of plenty of Palmer-Brown to Europe rumors, especially if he has himself a solid U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
