National Signing Day for Sporting Academy Players

It's national signing day in the United States. The day that high school seniors sign their letters of intent to play college sports at the school that they've chosen. It's mostly known because of college football signings, but all college athletes sign their letters of intent. Today, Sporting KC announced seven players who had signed their national letters of intent to play Division 1 soccer in college.

The list includes two goalkeepers, Andrew Blalock who signed with Drake and Ryan Krutz who signed with Notre Dame. Defenders Jack Freeman, Bryce Gibson, and Zane Moxley also signed, Freeman to Ohio State, Gibson to Creighton, and Moxley to the Air Force Academy. The final two players to sign today were midfielders Hector Solorio (Niagara) and Tucker Stephenson (West Virginia).

While those are the only seven that are being recognized at this time, throughout the school year, a couple other Sporting academy players have made their choices known for their next step in their college careers. Nicholas Jaimes, who won the Bob Gansler Award at this past year's Pitch Black event, the award is given to the most outstanding SKC academy player of the year, is headed to join Army. Another academy player, Robert Dewitt III has committed to play for Xavier, while Bailey Weeks is headed to Division II school, Northeastern State University.

Good luck to all the academy graduates as they move on to college ball and hopefully a few of them end up making it back to KC as members of the full squad.
