Dwyer Linked with Brentford Move

While the MLS transfer window closes today, the window in England is still open until the end of this month. What that means is that there's still going to be a transfer rumors for the rest of this month. The latest rumor includes Sporting KC forward, Dom Dwyer.

Word from Sky Sports today is that recently promoted Championship club, Brentford is lining up a bid for Sporting's leading scorer. The club is apparently looking to boost it's offense ahead of their first season in the English Championship in over 20 years and feel that the Englishman can help with that.

And while the Sky story appears to have pulled incorrect information directly from Dwyer's Wikipedia entry (before it was edited), I still put at least some credence to this rumor.  Really it shouldn't surprise anyone that Dwyer is getting interest from clubs in the Championship. Two years ago he almost went on a loan to Scottish side, St. Mirren, and then last year was almost loaned again, this time to Charlton, so there's been interest from clubs in the past. And with Dwyer being an English citizen, clubs don't have to worry about work permits as they do with American players.

The question really would be whether Brentford can actually afford the price that KC is going to put on Dwyer. With the transfer window closed for MLS teams, the only way to acquire a player would be an out of contract player or a trade within the league. With that in mind, KC's asking price for Dwyer likely went up quite a bit today. And with Brentford recently being prompted the question is whether they'd be able to afford an inflated price.
