The World Cup group stage is over and we're closing in on the opening of the summer transfer window for MLS teams. With the injuries and transfer that KC has dealt with, Sporting is expected to be at least a little active in the window. One position that seemed likely to be addressed was defensive midfield.
Word out of Honduras is that Sporting KC will addressing that need from the Honduran national team. Jorge Claros, who Sporting chased last year is apparently on the verge of signing with Sporting. The midfielder appeared in all three games for Honduras in the World Cup, stating two of them. With Honduras going out in the group stage, he's now either on his way to, or already in KC to finalize the deal.
KC's pursuit of Claros last year hit a snag when it came time to finalize the deal.
Claros will be expected to fill in at the defensive midfield role, likely in place of Lawrence Olum. The Kenyan has the defensive chops, but his passing has left a lot to desire after Oriol Rosell left.
