The other side of today's news involving the release of Alex Martinez is that Sporting KC midfielder, Mikey Lopez has been recalled again from his loan to Oklahoma City. With the limited numbers that KC has available, Lopez is likely to immediately go into the game day roster for Sunday's game against the Chicago Fire.
Before being recalled, Lopez played for the Energy against Sacramento in a USL-Pro league game. Lopez started for OKC and scored his first professional goal as well. He scored the Energy's second goal in the 67th minute as they won 2-0 over the Republic. KC's other loaned player (and technically their only healthy loaned player) Jon Kempin started and played the first 77 minutes before making way for Samir Badr with the Energy up 2-0 and the game well in hand.
Lopez's recall comes at a decent time for the Energy though, they are off from league play this coming weekend, returning on Saturday, July 12th vs the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
