Sporting KC goalkeeper, Jon Kempin picked up team of the week honors in the USL-Pro for his play this past weekend for the Oklahoma Ciy Energy. On a weekend where the Energy played two games on back to back nights, Kempin played the Energy's first game on Friday against the Wilmington Hammerheads. Kempin made five saves for the Energy in their 2-2 draw to start off a road trip that saw them end it with a three game unbeaten run. Kempin got a break for the Energy's second game, also a draw against the Charlotte Eagles.
The only other KC player out on loan currently after last week's call up of Christian Duke is Mikey Lopez who moved from Orlando City to OKC. Lopez immediately got a chance to contribute, coming off the bench and playing the final six minutes of the draw with Wilmington. Lopez then got his first start for the Energy the next night in Charlotte, playing the full 90 minutes for the Energy in their 1-1 draw with the Eagles.
This coming weekend, the Energy will be hosting the Sacramento Republic. Lopez and Kempin will be available, but Duke could stay with KC ahead of their US Open Cup game against Minnesota the following week.
