Sporting Kansas City affiliate Orlando City remains on top of the USL-Pro division after picking up four of an available six on the road this past week. In action for the Lions, Mikey Lopez made his first start of the season for Orlando in their second game of the weekend against Rochester.
First on Friday night though, Orlando City pulled off a 1-0 win on the road at Pittsburgh. Lopez came off the bench playing the final 10 minutes as Orlando killed the game off. Then on Saturday they played against the Rhinos in Rochester. Lopez started and played the full 90 minutes as Orlando came from behind to draw the Rhinos 1-1 and remain unbeaten.
KC's other affiliate hasn't played as well at the moment. The Energy returned home for their second home game of the season against Orange County. The game remained scoreless until second half stoppage time where the Blues scored to give themselves a 1-0 win. Once again all three of KC's loaned payers started for Oklahoma City. Both Kevin Ellis and Jon Kempin played the full 90 minutes for OKC. Meanwhile Christian Duke played 79 minutes before making way for former KC academy player, David Leichty.
Both teams are in action again this coming week. First both teams begin their US Open Cup campaigns on Wednesday. Orlando City will host PDL side Ocala Stampede while OKC will travel to Tulsa to take on NPSL side, the Tulsa Athletics. After the midweek game, both teams will return to league play on the weekend. Oklahoma City will host their third home game of the season, this time welcoming the Richmond Kickers. Orlando meanwhile will take the field on Saturday in Arizona. The Lions make a quick trip to the other side of the country to play Arizona United.
