I quiet weekend for the most part for Sporting KC's four loaned players. The biggest news of the past week was the fact that after playing on Friday night against Richmond, defender Kevin Ellis was recalled by Sporting KC for their game Sunday in Chicago. Ellis came off the bench and played 23 minutes in KC's 2-1 loss to the Fire. With Erik Palmer-Brown picking up a red card, and depending on the health of Oriol Rosell and Aurelein Collin, Ellis may well stay with KC through Friday's game against Toronto at least.
In Friday's game, OKC continued their winless run at home. This time suffering a big 4-1 loss to the Richmond Kickers. Three first half goals and a late goal in the 88th were enough for Richmond to send the Energy to their third straight home loss. Once again Jon Kempin started in goal and played for full game for OKC. Ellis and Christian Duke both started for the Energy as well. Ellis played 86 minutes before subbing out of the game, while Duke played 75 in the loss.
Meanwhile, Mikey Lopez and Orlando continued their good run. Lopez though hasn't been playing a huge role. He's still just got the one start for the Lions. This past week in OCSC's 1-0 win over Arizona United, Lopez again came off the bench and played 15 minutes for the Lions.
This coming week Orlando has a game on Wednesday when they'll host the Charlotte Eagles. Meanwhile OKC doesn't play until Sunday when they'll make another trip out to LA to take on the Galaxy II.
