In the first match up between Sporting KC's two affiliate teams, Oklahoma City and Orlando City faced off on Saturday in OKC in the Energy's home opener. In the match up, Orlando City topped the Energy in front of a sell out crowd, topping the Energy 2-1.
Of KC's four players loaned to the two teams, three of them appeared in the game. The one player absent was Christian Duke who has still not returned from his injury. Oklahoma City's two other loaned players, Kevin Ellis and Jon Kempin both started for the Energy. Mikey Lopez came off the bench for OCSC, playing the last five minutes as Orlando held on for the win.
Earlier last week, Orlando had another game, taking on FC Dallas' reserves in Dallas. Once again Lopez came off the bench, playing 12 minutes as the Lions held on for a 3-2 win over FC Dallas.
