Four years ago, the then Kansas City Wizards were linked with Colombian forward, Dayro Moreno. The forward/midfielder was playing with Once Caldas at the time. At the time Caldas wanted $2 million for the forward and KC ended up not signing him, instead sticking with Omar Bravo. In the end it probably worked out for the best as without Moreno to potentially play attacking midfield, it allowed for the emergence of Graham Zusi.
Today though came word that Sporting KC is once again interested in the Colombian. Since Sporting's last interest, the forward has signed for Club Tijuana in Mexico, but spent most of his time there on loan with Colombian clubs, most recently Millonarios. There he led the Colombian league in scoring in the Apertura season with 12 goals. The price for the 28 year old has apparently gone up though. According to the article out of Colombia, it would cost Kansas City double the price back in 2010, $4 million this time around.
So Moreno would come in as a designated player most likely. With KC's current roster, if KC was to bring in Moreno, one would assume that it would be at the expense of the team's other DP, Claudio Bieler.
On the other side of this rumor, with Dom Dwyer already battling Bieler for time and Benny Feilhaber having a great season so far in the attacking midfield position, the thought of adding another guy in those two positions seems a little out of place.
