Some Sporting KC player news.
Palmer-Brown called up
Sporting KC's youngest player, 16 year old, Erik Palmer-Brown will be spending more time with the US U18 team. Palmer-Brown has been called up by U18 coach, Javier Perez for training camp in Florida, starting on Saturday the 4th and running through the 11th.
With Palmer-Brown likely to get very few chances at the moment, getting this time with the US team is big for him.
Gardner re-signed
Josh Gardner will be spending another year in Kansas City. Sporting KC announced today that the defender had re-signed with the club for the 2014 season. Gardner made eight league appearances, starting two games, he also appeared in two CCL games and two US Open Cup games.
I don't dislike this move. While I wasn't a huge fan of Gardner, and felt he struggled greatly at times with KC, especially in the Open Cup loss to Orlando, he gives KC veteran experience to play out wide. With the addition of Sal Zizzo though I hope this keeps Gardner on defense and not in the wing forward position.
Bessone not returning
Almost as a side note in the discussion of Gardner re-signing was the news that defender, Federico Bessone will not be returning to the club in 2014. Bessone dressed for a number of matches, including MLS Cup, but the Argentine never actually played a game for Sporting KC.
