Sporting KC made their second and third moves of the offseason today. Following the retirement of Jimmy Nielsen, the team today announced that they'd waived two players, defenders Kyle Miller and Brendan Ruiz.
Miller was drafted by the team in the 2012 Supplemental draft but never made a competitive appearance for the club in his two seasons. He did appear in the team's two friendlies against Montpellier and Stoke City, scoring the goal in KC's 1-1 draw with Stoke.
Ruiz was signed on transfer deadline day this year along with Jimmy Medranda. Ruiz, like Miller, never made a competitive appearance for the club.
Here's the brightest moment for either player in a Sporting uniform.

ReplyDeleteSad for me that Miller got waived. He went to my HS before I got there and I interviewed him for the school newspaper when he was signed. He was my first "professional" interview so there's a bit of nostalgia there.
