Olum Done for the Year

Sporting Kansas City are getting ready to play their biggest game of the year tomorrow in their second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. They'll be down two players for the game in Lawrence Olum and Peterson Joseph. While Joseph hasn't played much of a role the last few games, Olum has, starting the last two games and scoring the game winning goal in KC's 2-1 win over Philadelphia.

Olum's season is done though after it was reported today that Olum had a fracture in his shin that will end his season. The break apparently occurred in stoppage time on a foul by Chad Barrett that resulted in a yellow card for the New England forward.

Watching the video I have to say I don't see how the break occurred, but I've seen injuries happen with less contact on the field before. It's a blow to KC because of Olum's role lately. With Joseph out tomorrow as well, KC's midfield depth takes a hit. With Paulo Nagamura still uncertain, that leaves KC with three regular midfielders that regularly play, Oriol Rosell, Benny Feilhaber and Graham Zusi.
