A few days ago, word started to make the rounds that Sporting KC were chasing Motagua midfielder and Honduran international, Jorge Claros. When originally questioned about it, Robb Heineman and Peter Vermes played fairly coy about the potential of bringing in the midfielder. Since then, more information has come out regarding KC's pursuit of the midfielder. According to Vermes though a deal is not even close to happening. Word out of Honduras according to Motagua head coach, Julio Gutierrez, is that Sporting has been negotiating with Motagua for three weeks but have so far been unable to reach a deal.
For Claros' part, he says he hasn't been contacted by any team yet, but does want to continue to play abroad after spending the last season in Scotland. At this point this has moved beyond the rumor phase and it's just a question of whether Sporting will be able to bring the Honduran in or not.
Speaking of rumors, another one that popped up yesterday involving Sporting KC. Word out of Ecuador is that Sporting KC is after Luis Bolaños. The winger currently plays for San Martin de San Juan in Argentina, but has recently played with Sporting KC designated player, Claudio Bieler at LDU Quito. While KC has a number of forwards on the roster, they do lack when it comes to true wingers for their 4-3-3 system. The team though hasn't commented on this rumor yet.
