Tonight during half time of the US friendly against Belgium, the opponent for this year's MLS All Star Game was announced. For the first time since 2003, MLS will play a team from outside the EPL. Italian side AS Roma will be coming to Sporting Park to take on the All Stars on July 31st.
Certainly not the glamor game that many people were hoping for, Roma finished the most recent Serie A in 6th place, out of the champions league. That will certainly raise a red flag with many people who were waiting to buy tickets. It's certainly not the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid, or Bayern Munich, but I still think it'll be a fun game. It does have more big names than the other most recently rumored team, Valencia. The name that will immediately stick out to US fans, is US international, Michael Bradley, who just finished his first year with the Rome side. Also on the team is Roma legend, Francesco Totti, the 36 year old who has appeared over 500 times for Roma. There's also current Italian international, Daniele De Rossi. It's not going to be the epic game that I think many Sporting fans were hoping for, but I still thing this will be a fun game.
