Wigan Athletic today officially announced the signing of Sporting KC midfielder Roger Espinoza. The move that had been rumored since the summer, and really picked up steam after the season ended is official and Espinoza's time in Kansas City is over.
Espinoza flew to the greater Manchester area yesterday after securing a visa for the UK in New York. Based on the comments about his signing, it would appear that Wigan are set to give him his debut tomorrow against AFC Bournemouth in the FA Cup. A bit surprising that Espinoza would be given his debut so soon after arriving, but it's also a good opportunity to do it against a team in the English 3rd division.
We all knew that the move was coming, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing when it's officially announced and his name is removed from the Sporting KC roster on the team's site. But Wigan probably has a few new fans in the KC metro area who will be following their attempts to avoid relegation.
Good luck to Roger in England, he took a while to prove himself here in KC, but he's done a good job of proving just how good he is. I hope to never see him back in MLS, I hope he's successful enough abroad that he doesn't return.

Gateway to top club action for him, he's that good. Roberto Martinez' eye for talent is well recognised, he's got a future £15m sale.
