Sporting KC continued a busy week in their offseason making announcing another signing today. The team announced the signing of Cameroonian youth international, Yann Songo'o. Songo'o is the son of former Cameroonian national team keeper Jacques Songo'o and is brothers with Franck Songo'o, who plays for the Portland Timbers.
According to the ever reliable Songo'o started his professional career wtih Zaragoza B in Spain after spending most of his youth career with Deportivo La Coruña. He spent a season there before moving to CE Sabadell FC of Spain who also play in the Spanish second division. He spent 2012 with Pobla de Mafumet CF in the Spanish 4th division.
Songo'o appears to be able to play both central defense and right back. Right back specifically is an area that I had felt KC still needed to address after the departure of Michael Harrington. KC needed depth there to back up Chance Myers should he get injured or called up. Songo'o is likely going to be competing with Kevin Ellis for that roll right now.

I wonder if Peter will try him at defensive midfield a la Rosell and Olum. A young African who has played in Spain would stereotypically have above average mobility and a decent touch.
