In a series of announcements made at a press conference today, the biggest news for Comets fans is probably the re-signing of two key parts of the team over the past two years. The team has re-signed defender, Leo Gibson and goalkeeper Danny Waltman. Gibson had started out as a forward for the Comets in their first season back, but dropped back to defense due to injury issues and has become one of the better defenders in the league since. Waltman has been one of the best keepers in the league the past two years with the Comets and will be a good presence in net for them.
Also announced today was the team's promotional calender for the year, further information on the MISL Combine being hosted by the Missouri Comets this year, and an announcement that former Comet, Alan Mayer will join Gino Schiraldi in having his jersey retired by the team. Also announced was a partnership with Cricket Wireless and the team officially introduced Craig Rocastle as well. This weekend at the Independence Events Center is the Comets Fan Fest from 3-6pm. A chance to meet players and get a look at the IEC before the new season.
