The official announcement should be coming out later today on the full roster for the US squad that will go down to Mexico City to play Mexico on Wednesday in a friendly, but Robb Heineman let some news creep out early as he announced on Twitter that both Matt Besler and Graham Zusi have earned call ups.
It's Besler's first call up to the national team level. An honor that is well past due for the KC product as he's been playing extremely well for KC. While Aurelien Collin gets plenty of credit for helping solidify KC's back line, Besler deserves just as much credit for KC's good defense, not just this year but last year as well. Besler and Collin formed a formidable partnership in central defense for KC. Collin does much of the dirty work while Besler cleans up. But when Collin's been out he's shown the ability to do more of the dirty work. His performance in the Open Cup final against Seattle was great, he completely took Fredy Montero out of the game and did a great job helping Lawrence Olum contain Eddie Johnson.
Zusi returns to the national team after being called in to the January camp. He appeared in both games of the camp against Venezuela and Panama, scoring the lone goal in the USA's win over Panama in Panama City.

After last night's game I was thinking Besler might get a look this week. He's been far and away the best American for SKC.
How long will they be gone?
There's only 1 game, they shouldn't miss any games with us.
