The Swope Park Rangers have made it to the half way point of their 10 game reserve league season tonight when they took on FC Dallas under the lights at the team's Swope Park training complex. The roster saw only 2 players that had played minutes in league play so far this season, in Luke Sassano who started, and Teal Bunbury who was a late sub. KC grabbed the lead off a corner. The first effort was partially cleared by Dallas, but KC won the ball back and the ball again found it's way into the box. In there the ball pinged around until Soony Saad found Michael Thomas who knocked the ball home to give KC the 1-0 lead. After the goal, though the game started to be played a lot in KC's end. Jon Kempin came up with one or two good saves to keep KC in the lead. KC tried to break on the counter, with Dom Dwyer hitting one just over the bar. Late in the half though Dallas tied the game. Dallas got down KC's right side and a cross into the box was met by Ruben Luna. Luna directed the shot on goal where Kempin got a hand on the shot, but was only able to push it onto the cross bar where it hit and went into the net to make it 1-1.
Into the second half, Dallas continued to be the aggressive side and early on made it 2-1. Scott Sealy slipped in Luna who beat Kempin to his near post to give Dallas the lead. KC started to control more of the game from this point on, getting more of the possession and creating some half chances but not able to finish. As time ticked by it looked like KC would lose their second straight game. Instead late on Korede Aiyegbusi made a good run down the left and then laid the ball back into the middle for Dwyer who one timed his effort into the net to tie the game. After the goal KC continued to be the aggressor, looking for a winner. Bunbury came in for Dwyer after the goal and did a good job of pressuring the Dallas back line. The Rangers almost got an amazing goal from Konrad Warzycha as he hit a chip from about midfield that almost caught Dallas' keeper out but he knocked it down and collected the rebound. KC had a few more chances late but couldn't find a winner. KC is now 1-2-2 in reserve play.
