In the second preseason game of the season, KC once again took care of business, this time against their First Kick opponent DC United. What would be assumed to be the first team started the game again for Kansas City. It was the same lineup as KC put out against San Jose last weekend, with one exception. Teal Bunbury was replaced in the starting lineup by CJ Sapong. In fact Bunbury didn't play at all in today's game.
The starters played for 60 minutes, save Julio Cesar who subbed out at half time for Paulo Nagamura and Luke Sassano came in for Roger Espinoza before the team made the full scale changes at the hour mark.
In the game itself, KC grabbed the lead in the 34th minute through Graham Zusi as one of his free kicks beat Bill Hamid in the United net giving KC the 1-0 lead. Shortly after the full roster change, KC doubled the lead. Jacob Peterson pounced on a loose ball and beat United goalkeeper Joe Willis to the ball. The ball bounced to Soony Saad who tapped the ball into an unattended net to double the lead. With about 12 minutes left, DC got on the board and it was from the foot of a former Wizard, as Jose Burciaga Jr, a guest player for DC. Burciaga slide a shot past Eric Kronberg and into the net making it 2-1. KC though held on for the win. Sporting will end the Tucson leg of their preseason on Tuesday when they'll play FC Tucson.

what do u make of teal not playing at all? injured? conflict with vermes?
ReplyDeleteNot much, Vermes has done a lot of resting guys and pushing the right amount so that they're peaking at the right time. I don't think this is really any different.
