Women Draw at LSP
While Sporting KC was on the road in Salt Lake, LIVESTRONG Sporting Park was in use by the US women's national team. In their first game since the World Cup this summer, the women drew over 16,000 fans to LSP last night for the first game of their celebration series. The US got the first goal of the game off of an Abby Wambach penalty after a hand ball in the box on Canada. The Canadians equalized later in the first half Melissa Tancredi of Canada was played in behind the US defense and beat Hope Solo low and to the far post to tie the game at one. Both teams had chances as the game continued, the US with more, Alex Morgan had a few chances well saved by Erin McLeod. But the best chance fell to Canada late in the game when a ball was squared to an unmarked Lauren Sesselmann inside the box, but Sesselmann skied the chance over the bar and the game ended up in a 1-1 draw.
