Sporting KC has officially announced the rescheduled date of their game against the LA Galaxy. The game was supposed to take place on August 13th and be broadcasted on FSC. But with the announcement of Farm Aid coming to LiveSTRONG Sporting Park, KC had to move their game against David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and the rest of the Galaxy to September 5th. The game will now take place at 5pm on Labor Day, it will still be broadcasted on FSC.
This weekend had been an off weekend for the Wizards, one of the few weekends that MLS decided to observe FIFA's international dates. It's kind of funny that they chose to observe FIFA's dates at this time, but are making many fans choose between club and country today. Of course if the US hadn't made the finals, which earlier in the tournament looked a little likely, the league would have had a fairly dead day. Still MLS likely should have taken today off to allow US fans to watch their country (this is coming from someone that has club ranked much higher than country in this debate).
Currently the US has no game scheduled for that weekend, but the game would likely not be Monday anyway. The one bad thing already likely for KC is that Sierra Leone has an African Cup of Nations qualifier on the 2nd against Egypt, so KC could be missing Kei Kamara for this match. Other national teams that could affect KC have not announced schedules for that date either.
The good news for Sporting KC though is that this gives the team a longer break during that brutal home stretch coming up. Now KC has 11 days off between playing the Sounders on the 6th and the Timbers on the 17th. It'll be a nice break for KC after they'll have basically played twice a week up to that point for a few weeks.
