Arnaud to Miss Up to 6 Weeks

KC announced today that another player will miss time due to surgery. Davy Arnaud will miss 4-6 weeks as he is having sports hernia surgery. Arnaud is the second Sporting KC player to have the surgery this year, as Omar Bravo had the surgery earlier this year. Due to the schedule congestion, Arnaud could possibly miss 10 games while out recovering. The sad thing for him is that he'll miss this weekend's game against former teammate Jack Jewsbury and the Portland Timbers.

  1. who cares. he's overrated. hes nothing more than mediocre now anyways, partly due to being shuffled all around the field in the past few years. guy is just average at everything now. as we saw vs vancouver, he's not needed out there. there are much better ball winners, passers, and space takers than davy. this 10 game stretch is a perfect time to groom the midfield and see all the other natural leaders on the team. sporting needs to let go of davy. its a new team.

  2. Not needed? Did u forget when he went down vs vancover in the first meeting and then when subbed on to secure the result last saturday? Davy is no world beater but he is a solid lynch pin, failure to understand that and what he does in the system this year is telling. Solid is solid, we can survive but your assessment is pretty weak Anon

  3. Well, I disagree with the previous poster. Davy is the captain for a reason. Sporting can beat a team like the Whitecaps without him not because he isn't a good player, but because we have superior talent — even coming off the bench.

I would agree with anyone that Arnaud is not having a very good season up to this point. But then maybe he has been hurt for a while and we didn't know. Where I have been disappointed is that he is not taking corners or free kicks. Last year or the year before, he could have made that bomb that Zusi did in Dallas. Remember the wonderful free kick in Seattle last year?

So, I am hoping Davy's surgery goes well and he comes back stronger than he has been this year.

In the meantime, we do need to find another midfielder to help with the rotation during this busy period. And I wonder if Vermes is thinking he should have kept Jewsbury. I wish Jack was still here but I'm happy he is having a good season with the Timbers.

  4. Sorry, I didn't mean Mouf's comment, but the one from Anonymous.

  5. We'll see how over- or underrated he is during this stretch.

It is fair to say that Davy is a better passer than many of the other options: Diop, Auvary, Santos, Sassano, etc...

With Rocastle's injury, this area of the field is full of serviceable, part-time options, but no one that is likely to etch his name in stone as a starter. Hopefully, SKC have some upgrade options on their radar for the transfer window.

  6. Agreed. Not as big of a loss as you may have though it would have been at the beginning of the season.
