More Trialists for Preseason

Some interesting tweets today from the SKC Wizards president, Robb Heineman. It started late last night when Heineman posted that a European attacking midfielder has agreed to come in on trial with the team. The midfielder would apparently be a maximum salary, but adding a play making midfielder would be a huge boost to the team.

The other tweet came tonight when Heineman said that a former La Liga center back would be in camp on Monday. Heineman didn't elaborate, but the La Liga status is a little intriguing. But let's remember that this doesn't mean that 1) the player plays for anyone in the top half of the table, or 2) he is currently playing in the league or has this season. And there are only 100s of defenders that played in La Liga at one time. It'll be interesting to see who each of these players are and if they'll make the team this season.

I don't think the Wiz can play their 4-3-3 with a play making attacking midfielder. They'd need to do something a little different for that. Possibly a 4-3-1-2 and have this playmaker move behind the two strikers. Then you make Smith less affective b/c he'll drop into the three b/h the playmaker. They could play a 4-3-3 with a playmaker high up the pitch to the center forward. The problem with that will be a huge gap b/t the backline and the midfield. They'd be better served for a defensive midfielder there breaking up play. I think they need to get better at the back first and work their way up. If this attacking midfielder could be like Smith and not afraid to take on a fullback that would be fantastic to have that on both sides and would scare any defense in the league. Only problem is KC's back four.

I wouldn't mind seeing KC play a 4-2-3-1.

Bravo or this attacking player can play off of one of the strikers.
