Back during MLS Cup weekend, a rumor surfaced that KC was one of the finalists for hosting the 2011 All Star game, and the rumored opponent was going to be Spanish giant, Barcelona. Today the same person, Steve Davis posted again about the rumor, saying that both Barcelona as the opponent and KC as the host was continuing to gain steam.
Shortly after the initial rumor dropped, during a live web chat with fans after the rebranding, Robb Heineman talked about the potential of hosting MLS Cup or the All Star game. Heineman said he'd love to host either of the events in 2011, but didn't know if it'd be possible, saying 2012 or 2013 were more likely for hosting.
Certainly things can change between November and today, but with Davis' history of not really knowing KC and what's going on here I do take what he says with a grain of salt. It would certainly be a fun day though to see the MLS All Stars in KC take on Barcelona. But with the opening of the stadium, the Gold Cup, and potentially the All Star game could it be a bit of overload for KC fans?

Not too much for the fans at all! Bring it on!
Overload, are you kidding. We never get these type of events. Bring them on.
I really like these kinda rumours...
yes, they add a bit of radiance to the day(s) even if for a short time, I like them as well. up the sporting
yeah we have 16 years of this stuff to make up!
KC needs to spread out events. They're already getting Gold Cup matches, and either the All-Star or MLS Cup would be great for local economy. But don't do to much at once. There's only so much money out there right now, spread this big games out. I think the All-Star game would be better than Gold Cup. Barcelona in town will draw more press and fandom than any Caribbean nation.
Barcelona in Kansas City? That would be unbelievable. I don't care if it's the same day as the Gold Cup. Spor...Ting...clap...clap, Spor...Ting...K...C
