India put in a strong second half, but lost to Bahrain 5-2 and saw their AFC Asian Cup tournament chances end as well. The loss by India and the Australia-South Korea draw means that India was eliminated from the tournament. India fell behind in the 8th minute due to a penalty kick, but came back a minute later to equalize. Then Ismaeel Abd El-Latif went off for a natural hattrick to give Bahrain all the room they needed. Still in the second half, like against Australia India put in a better effort. In the 52nd minute, India thought they found a way back into the game Renedy Singh struck a hard shot from outside the box that hit the cross bar and bounced over the line, but the goal was not given. The rebound fell to Abhishek Yadav who put his header into the woodwork as well. The second rebound fell to Chhetri who headed the ball into the net. Later in the half though, El-Latif scored his fourth and sent India out of the tournament with a game to play. In their final game of the tournament India will take on South Korea who will be looking to advance to the quarterfinals. See Chhetri's goal below.
