The running joke when the Missouri Comets were announced was that they were going to be signing Wizards midfielder, Jamar Beasley once the season ended. Who knew that this would actually end up being true. The Wizards have not made a formal announcement releasing or waiving Beasley, but the Comets made the announcement today that they'd signed the player. Beasley spent time with Chicago and New England before moving to the indoor game. The Wizards signing Beasley was his first outdoor team since 2003. Beasley returns to the Comets after playing with previous incarnation of the Comets from 2003-2005, playing 61 games scoring 53 goals. Beasley is expected to be in uniform tomorrow night when the Comets open their season against the Milwaukee Wave at the Independence Event Center. The move is the first of what could be an interesting offseason for the Wizards with the new Re-Entry draft and the expanded roster.
Beasley was signed in May replacing Igor Kostrov on the Wizards roster. Beasley didn't make a first team appearance and didn't make the bench for the Wizards at all this season. He only got time playing with the Swope Park Rangers. Good luck to Beasley and I look forward to seeing him tomorrow night.
