The Wizards will be down one starter Saturday when they take on the Seattle Sounders, as central defender Shavar Thomas has been called up for international duty with Jamaica. Jamaica is going to be playing Trinidad in Kingston, Jamaica at The National Stadium, AKA The Office on October 10th. Thomas will not be available for the must win game against the Sounders, but should be available for the Wizards game on Tuesday against the Chicago Fire. Thomas has already made 2 appearances for the Jamaican team since being traded back to the Wizards.
The call up means a chance for one of the Wizards other central defenders, including Matt Besler, Nikos Kounenakis, Jonathan Leathers, or even Aaron Hohlbein, who has returned from his loan with Miami FC. It will be interesting to see who takes Thomas' place in the lineup.
