Sunil Chhetri and the India national team returned to Asia this past week after spending time in Portugal for a camp in preparation for the AFC Asian Cup this January. Today they continued their preparations for the cup with a friendly against Thailand, the first of a home-home series, with the return leg coming this Wednesday the 8th. Today was Thailand's home leg in Bangkok. Thailand pulled out the 1-0 win over India scoring their goal in the second half.
Thailand was the more dominate side early in the game coming close to getting the lead early on. As the half wore on though, India started to get more of the game and were unlucky to not get the lead just before the interval when Chhetri hit the cross bar. Chhetri went the full 90 minutes for India in the loss. He becomes the 24th Wizards player to appear for his national team while a member of the Wizards.
