No really big news today with regards to the Wizards, but two minor bits of news that I wanted to touch on today. First has to do with the international games coming up soon. Along with the Wizards having three players called up for their respective national teams, they almost had a fourth. Word out of Canada is that national team coach Stephen Hart had discussions with Wizards forward Teal Bunbury about playing for Canada in their upcoming games. Bunbury turned down the potential call up because he'd "just broken into the first team" and he wanted to "play more consistently and get more experience". Along with being happy about him deciding to stay with the Wizards (and potentially eventually playing for the US) I think this is a smart more on Bunbury's part. He has only recently really come around as a starter so staying with KC and working to hold onto his starting spot is important. Especially after Birahim Diop's performance last game playing in Bunbury's position.
The other news is on a Wizards trialist, Jemal Johnson. Word out of the UK today is that he is back with MK Dons and failed to earn a contract with the Wizards or with DC. Johnson may well still be looking for a new club due to the Dons financial situation. So it looks like Johnson will not be showing up in a Wizards uniform soon.
