Kamara Gets Call Up

Kei Kamara posted today on his Twitter account today that he'd been called up by the national team for Sierra Leone for their upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifier verse Egypt in Cairo on September 3rd. This is their first game in the qualification process. The Leone Stars are in Group G along with World Cup hosts South Africa and Niger in their 4 team group. The top team in each group, the two best runner ups, and the second place finisher in Group K will all join hosts Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in the 2012 African Cup of Nations. The Wizards have a game on September 4th in Philadelphia, so Kamara will miss what could be a crucial game for the Wizards. But with it being on a FIFA international break, there's no one to really complain to other than MLS for playing on FIFA international dates.

That sucks. I wish he would stay, but you can't blame a guy for wanting to play for his national team. MLS is probably all proud of themselves that they didn't play during the cup (or at least the majority of it - I forget).

Good luck Kei.

Kamara's career seems to be flourishing as of late. Good for him.

I'm sure we can handle the Union without him.

Congratulations to Kamara!

This is also an opportunity for the Wizards to show if they have the depth of talent to be in the playoffs.

Every team has a few "stars". But to excel, a team has to have guys that can come of the bench or fill in and play at a top level. Diop did so last game. Who's going to step up against Philly? This is their chance-

PS Where can you get a Sierra Leone jersey?!
