Preseason Day 1
Today preseason started for the Kansas City Wizards out at the Arrowhead practice facility. Thad from The Back Post was there to provide updates to all us stuck at work. He gives us a lot of information on who and who is not in camp right now. We already knew that Kei Kamara, Claudio Lopez, and Kevin Hartman weren't in camp, but we also learned that Jimmy Conrad and Josh Wolff are not in camp, although there are rumors they are in New York for discussions on the collective bargaining agreement. The team's two newest signings, Stephane Auvray and Pablo Escobar are not in town yet, Auvray will join the team later in the week while Escobar will join the team in Arizona. Thad also mentions a couple other players that he did not see there today as well. Matt Marquess, Thad was told, retired from the game of soccer, Lance Watson is coming off an injury, and Olukorede Aiyegbusi has not reported yet to finish up some school stuff. The rest of last year's team, including the rest of the Wizards' draft picks. Also at camp today were plenty of trialists, including former DC United goalkeeper, Louis Crayton. After practice, Thad got interviews with two of the Wizards draft picks this year, Mauro Fuzetti and Ofori Sarkodie.
