The thought a few weeks ago that the Wizards were going to the Legends or bust for their permanent home, but Robb Heineman has posted to the contrary last night on Bigsoccer. While the Legends site appears to still be leader, Heineman says that more needs to be done by the state of Kansas to ensure the stadium gets built there. His thread title while cryptic, was quickly broken down as meaning that the Wizards are still working on the Missouri side as well. Is this the Bannister site, or is it potentially another site. Either way, if it is on the Missouri side, specifically in Kansas City, the question becomes how the city has sweetened the deal after hearing about the deal Wyandotte County has put on the table.
The Wizards are playing a potentially dangerous cat and mouse game. Competition for the stadium can probably be a good thing, and maybe it's because of all the stuff I've dealt with as a Wizards fan for years, but I worry that playing this game the Wizards could get left out in the cold on both sides of the state line. If the Wizards are still hoping for that mid-season 2011 opening, they have to start moving dirt soon. My original hope of ground breaking being held in conjunction with one of the final home games doesn't look likely to happen any more.

Given the current product being put on the field, I'm somewhat surprised at the kind of rhetoric coming from Heineman.
They need to get a deal done very quickly and give us something worth cheering for.
I'm willing to put up with some penny-pinching in the roster as long as it means resources are going towards building a permanent foundation for the club.
I only hope Heineman doesn't overplay his hand trying wheedle a slightly better deal.

I am going to be completely broken if this all falls through over amounts of money that are less than a percent of the total cost of the project...
I just think this is the 11th hour for the Wizards as a MLS club.
As far as the actually product, its a mess, some quality players that dont fit together.. Get the stadium deal done, get a new coach and director, blow up the team and go from there.
For the umteenth-thousandth time, player salaries are paid by the league and not the team. Meaning there is no relationship between the cost of the roster and any stadium development costs....by I digress - please feel free to disregard and keep complaining about things that have nothing to do with each other...
Anonymous, you ever heard of the Beckham Rule? The league covers a portion of the salary and the team pays the rest for a world-class player. Why don't the Wizards spend some dough on an impact player?
Why spend that money when they can't maximize profit in CAB? BTW, we had a DP in Lopez....
