After what seemed like a really slow process when dealing with the city of Kansas City about the 3 Trails Development, things seem to be moving a lot faster with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and the development out at the Legends. Earlier today, after the story came out, the Unified Government called a special meeting to review the stadium complex. The results of that meeting are in, and the Unified Government has endorsed the deal for the stadium and Cerner offices. The deal is now contingent on the state of Kansas approving the use of proceeds from the current STAR Bonds for the Village West area. There will also be $173 million in subordinate bonds that will be sold as well to help fund the development.
The bonds would be used for the stadium, while $20.5 million in state tax credits would help with the Cerner office complex (which would be the largest single job-creation program in the history of Wyandotte County according to the Unified Government mayor).
