Lack of Moment
Tomorrow is the MLS roster freeze date, meaning it's the last day for the Wizards to sign a player. While a move seems unlikely, one has to wonder if that should be the case. The Wizards are still outside the playoffs and while they've won two of their last three on the road, they are still a long shot to get back into the playoffs. With that in mind, why haven't the Wizards looked to bring in another player that can contribute immediately. Over the course of this season, the Wizards have made the fewest moves of any MLS team this season, bringing in Zoltan Hercegfalvi while waiving Nelson Pizarro much earlier in the season. Most other teams, including those still struggling to make the playoffs have made roster moves to try and improve their team. While not all roster moves always work out, they are at least trying different things. The Wizards pinned their "acquisition" hopes on players returning from injury and so far Adam Cristman and Chance Myers haven't really delivered on the field. I'm not saying to make a deal just to make one, but finding some way to improve the team, especially with the lack of finishing overall from the team. It's disappointing that (at least publicly) there has been no attempt to work to improve this team on the field.
I think the organization is frozen for a while.
ReplyDeleteVermes was given the last third of the season to prove the players he had a large part in bringing to KC are what he envisioned them to be. If the team doesn't finish strong, Vermes will probably be gone...probably should be.
Ownership probably doesn't see much sense in bringing new players in with everything is such limbo.
I dont think its really fair to lump Meyers in with Christman...
ReplyDeleteMeyers has been very solid other than that brain fart that got him that 2nd yellow/red card. Hes be dangerous going forward and had bite on defense, and he is fast to boot so he can recover when mistakes are made... A side with Harringtion and Meyers isnt a easy side of the field to break...
looks like the Wizards traded Abe Thompson to Houston for Kai Kamara
