5 State Titles for Juniors

The Wizards Juniors teams recently finished up playing in the Kansas State Cup tournament. Of the 6 Juniors' teams that competed, 5 came away as state champions, with the 6th team finishing as runners up. The U13 Juniors team outscored their opponents 25-4 on route to their state title this year. The U15 Juniors team won their quarterfinal 2-0 then moved onto a big 10-0 win in their semifinal game. They pulled out another 2-0 win in the state finals to claim the title. The U-16 Juniors, who lost in the semifinals last year made it one step further this year, making it to the finals, but ended up losing to KCFC Rangers 2-1 in the finals. The U-17 Juniors team were able to defend their state title they won as U-16s, defeating KCFC Strikers (the same team they defeated last year) in the finals 1-0. In their 4 team group, the U-18 Juniors team were able to defender their state title, winning their semifinal 8-3, and the final 3-0 over KCFC Athletics. Like last year, the Juniors has a U-19 team competing in State Cup as well. Like last year, they only had to win 1 game to win the state title beating KCFC Challenger 3-2 in the final.

  1. great to see the junior club really establishing itself, really didnt take that much time; this is good for the MLS

  2. your an idiot, they play in Kansas. There is NO competition in Kansas. Only the U17's and maybe the 15's would be considered favorites to win a mo state cup.

Just look @ the score's 10-0! In a State Cup game? Give me a break. Go to www.mysa.org and see if you see ANY 10-0 scores. In the boys or girls side, or even a 6-0.

  3. who's an idiot? Mike for reporting this? Why? I wouldn't have known how the Juniors did if he hadn't have posted it. There is competition in KS, the best teams in KC play on the KS side, just like in MO the best teams in St. Louis play on the MO side.

  4. Anon1- Brilliant, I assume you are calling me an idiot (Mike didnt do anything but report scores). My question is what is idiotic? It is a fact that the juniors have established themselves as the dominate club in KS, per what you just read. It is good for the MLS development for the top clubs in their states to be their junior ones. Aside from a great club in STL there isnt competition in MO either, and in the KC area is not even close on which side has the dominate clubs... I am guessing you are decent player who tired out for the Wizards youth team and didnt make it, am I right? I will also take it a step further and assume you are on the MO side and arent getting that great JO CO education that comes from having the tax dollars to pay the best teachers in the area given your inability to actually respond to a point of discussion, instead resulting to misdirected insults.. Simply brilliant, keep it up

  5. The best teams in KC do not ALL play on the Kansas side. Look it up. As I stated go to www.mysa.org

I'm not saying Mike is an idiot for reporting it.

Saying that the juniors are establishing themselves? That's idiotic. The U-19's last year had no ties to anything KC Wizards, they where mostly Graceland and Drake boys.

The U-18's, 17's and 16's where all the dominant teams in KC before they had the Wizards name on their jersey's. Paul Rideout just took his teams from KCFC (already best in KS) and moved to another club basically.

The haven't developed anything or established anything.

  6. Wow - sour grapes from Anon. Perhaps you're a coach left on the outside?? Here's some advice, worry about your own teams bud.

  7. i think it is very true how the wizards just took all the great players and teams from kcfc and turned it into a new club, but they still are great teams and most likely some of them could win state cup in MO.
