Winter Wonderland

The Wizards are in Colorado now, where the Denver area was put under anywhere from 10-17 inches of snow yesterday. Kansas City plays their first road game tomorrow as the Rapids have their season opener. Colorado lost their season opener last weekend to Chivas 2-1, with Omar Cummings scoring for the visiting side. This week, Colorado will be missing their on the field leader, and captain, Pablo Mastroeni, who is with the United States national team. That's likely good news for a Wizards midfield that had trouble coping with Toronto's midfield last week. It's supposed to still be cold in Colorado but apparently the sun was out today and the snow is starting to melt. Still we may see the orange ball brought out for tomorrow's game.

As for the Wizards, the injuries continue to mount up for the boys in blue. Not only will Adam Cristman, Chance Myers,Eric Kronberg, and Kevin Souter not be ready for this weekend's game again, but they will be joined by forward Josh Wolff, who is out with a hamstring injury. There is also an issue with Davy Arnaud's neck, but he's listed as probable and seems likely to play. There's also a chance Santiago Hirsig will see more playing time, but a start this week seems unlikely. If he is able to play tomorrow in England, we'll likely see the team like up like this:
Hartman
Leathers - Conrad - Hohlbein - Harrington
Jewsbury
Zusi - Arnaud - Lopez
Gomez - Thompson

PREDICTION - Both teams are 0-1 on the season so far, but KC looked to be the better team in their game against Toronto compared to Colorado's performance against Chivas. Kansas City needs to have a better start to the game and have better control of the midfield. KC would appear to be the better side, but the elevation in Denver is likely to play a role.

KC - 1 - (Gomez)
CO - 1 - (Casey)
